Healing after a Cesarean

Recovery following a Cesarean Section is more complicated than just recovering from surgery.  For many women, it is a very emotional issue as well.  Felling let down, or as though you have failed is often a common thing following a cesarean.  Most women go into a pregnancy expecting to deliver vaginally and being up and about soon after delivery.  But when a surgical delivery occurs instead, it brings about its own set of emotional baggage.

Physically and emotionally, it is best to not stay in bed, but instead to get up and move around as soon as possible, including while still in the hospital.  But doing too much too fast can also cause problems with your recovery.  Doctors will tell you to take it easy the first weeks following surgery, and that is good advice.  Because when you overwork your muscles and stress out, it hinders your recovery.

As for the emotional healing, that can be even more complicated.
